Kurt Angle noticed how similar Chad Gable’s gimmick is to his own.

Since turning on Sami Zayn after WrestleMania 31, Chad Gable has drawn comparisons to Angle’s own heel turn. Both men are Olympic wrestlers who turned to professional wrestling, and now Gable could go on a run of his own to rival Kurt Angle’s career.

Angle spoke on The Kurt Angle Show about Gable’s heel turn. He said that the “formula” used to get him over was working for Cahd Gable, and that he could not have done it any better himself.

“The Kurt Angle formula worked the first time, and the Kurt Angle formula will work today. I have noticed, I’ve been watching Chad, and he’s doing a lot of actions that Kurt Angle used to do, different characteristics, different facial expressions. Taking off his singlet before he does his finish, he’s been doing the angle slam, the ankle lock. So I feel like this is a rebirth of Kurt Angle, but I’ll tell you this, he’s doing a great job of it too. He has really stepped up, and I don’t know if I could have done it any better than him. He’s doing really good right now.”

Kurt Angle: I’m Not Sure Why WWE Didn’t Do Team Angle With Alpha Academy

Kurt Angle continued. Paul then suggested that the gimmick could improve if Angle was brought in as Gable’s manager. Angle thought it was a good idea, and lamented the fact that he has not been put together with Alpha Academy as a team yet.

He name checked Team Angle as a comparison. This team featured Angle, Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas, and was a highlight of Smackdown in the 2000s.

“Believe it or not, they never considered that, at least with Chad. I know that they made Jason my son, and that’s cool, but for some reason, they never decided to do another Team Angle or have me team up with Alpha Academy. I’m not sure why; maybe they just felt like I might overshadow them. I don’t know. I don’t think I would. It would be a great idea, but if I were going to do it, it has to be worth it to me.”
