Bryan Danielson says he is 'grateful' for CM Punk's time in AEW.
On the Maggie and Perloff Show, Danielson confirmed that he is part of AEW’s disciplinary committee but couldn’t elaborate on details regarding CM Punk's firing from AEW following an altercation with Jack Perry at All In.
“Yeah, I’m part of the disciplinary committee and clearly what’s happened has happened,” he said. “I’m somebody who...I liked CM Punk, I thought he brought a lot to AEW. There’s not a lot I can say about it or that I really want to say about it, but I am a part of it.”
Danielson denied reports that he headed the committee, saying that most of the people involved in the decision to fire Punk were lawyers.
“I mean, there were more than three people involved in this decision. But most of them were all lawyers," he said. "To say that I was the head...I don’t even have a college degree.”
When asked if it was a difficult move to fire Punk, Danielson said that it was.
“Absolutely, yeah,” he said. “I have a lot of empathy...and I am grateful of the time he spent in AEW and he did a great job for us, so yeah, I wish him the best in his future and I hope he goes well.”
CM Punk made his return to WWE back at WWE Survivor Series, his first WWE apperance in nearly ten years.
