Former Flyers Land PTO Deals
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Former Philadelphia Flyers prospect Jackson Cates will attend New York Islanders training camp, according to Isles general manager Lou Lamoriello.

Jackson Cates, 25, has signed a PTO with the Islanders. He is the older brother of Flyers forward Noah Cates, 24, who had an excellent season with the Flyers in 2022-23. Both are forwards.

Jackson and Noah played together at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Jackson signed with the Flyers as an undrafted free agent after the 2020-21 UMD season. Noah was a Flyers’ 2017 fifth-round pick (137th overall).

Jackson played 20 games (one goal, one assist) over three seasons with the Flyers. He played 102 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and scored 13 goals and 20 assists.

Another former Flyers forward has signed a PTO, with the Carolina Hurricanes. Kieffer Bellows, 25, was a 2016 first-round draft pick of the Islanders. Philadelphia claimed Bellows on waivers this past season.

Bellows was not offered a contract by the Flyers in the offseason. He played 27 games with the Flyers (three goals) and 12 games with the Phantoms (three goals, seven assists).
